French Caviar Biography
“French Caviar“ is the artistic pseudonym of Hubert Moste, “a breath of fresh air in the EDM and the club scene“ (Malina Saval, former Variety Features Editor), with a daring blend of musical genres, inspired by his unique journey.
Hailing from France, Hubert was born in 1987 and moved to New York at the age of 22, in pursuit of his own version of the American dream.
Both a self-taught and savant musician, songwriter, DJ and producer, Hubert is a consummate songsmith and multi-instrumentalist. He began classical piano training at the age of 7 and later mastered the guitar, joining the French National School of Music (conservatoire) for guitar and vocals at 17.
As a true "guitar hero", his musical voyage led him to form his own rock band at the age of 18, called “7eme Avenue“, while drawing inspiration from icons like Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, David Bowie, and Elton John.
Yet, it was his electronic musical palette which enriched him, drawing from influences ranging from Disco, Funk, Soul, House, to EDM and Techno.
His insatiable appetite for public interaction and new musical experiences naturally drew him towards the Dance world.
Trained in DJing at 18 in several big clubs such as F&K in Lyon, he innovated with the concept of the Guitar Show during his residency at the club "Life Can Wait" (now "Le Patit Salon", catapulting it to the top of the Lyon scene.
In 2009, his journey continued in New York, where he performed at clubs such as 1 Oak, Avenue, Le Souk, Lavo, Dream Hotel/PHD, Gospel and others, successfully introducing his Guitar Show concept.
His exceptional guitar skills also earned him the role of lead guitarist for Kid Cudi’s touring band, performing on stage in front of hundreds of thousands of fans in North America, next to the seminal rapper, between 2012 -2014.
It was in New York that he met Sandy Vee, a renowned producer (two-time Grammy Award winner), becoming his mentor in music production. This collaboration led him to work in the studio with leading artists and producers, such as Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepesen, Sia, Freddy Wexler, Jason Evigan…
French Caviar simply shakes up the conventions of EDM.
